Board of Directors

NID is governed by a five-member Board of Directors, elected to four-year
terms by district voters. The board is the district’s policy-making
body and policy is carried out by approximately 175 full- and part-time
employees.
Members of the board are elected from within and represent five
geographical divisions within the district. See
map.

Nancy Weber of rural Nevada City has represented
Division 1 since 1998. She is the second woman in history to serve
on the NID governing board. Ms Weber holds a bachelor’s degree
in nursing and master’s
degree in special education. She is retired from a career in nursing,
school nursing and special education resource teaching. |

John Drew of Chicago Park, Nevada County, is a certified organic farmer and longtime leader of the local agricultural community. Mr. Drew is a longtime board member and past president of the Nevada County Farm Bureau and Certified Growers Market. He has served on the NID board since 2002, bringing over 42 years of experience in water and wastewater treatment, water quality research and control and environmental monitoring, including biological assays. |

Scott Miller of rural Grass
Valley has served as the Division III representative on the NID board
since 2000. Dr. Miller is a family physician with a practice near
Lake of the Pines and has been active in local school and youth programs.
A Vallejo native, Dr. Miller has practiced medicine since 1983. He
graduated from the University of California, Santa Barbara and completed
his medical training at the University of Louisville. |

Jim Bachman of rural Lincoln, Placer County, was appointed June 10, 2009 as the Division IV representative on the NID Board of Directors. Mr. Bachman is a native of Grass Valley and near lifelong resident of the Lincoln area where he raises cattle on an 80-acre family ranch. Mr. Bachman is a retired construction manager and a longtime board member and former president of the Placer County Farm Bureau. |

Nick Wilcox of Penn Valley, Nevada County, was elected in November
2008 to a four-year term on the NID Board of Directors. Mr. Wilcox
brings wide experience in the water industry to his elected position.
He is retired from the State Water Resources Control Board where
he worked as a supervising Environmental Scientist in the Division
of Water Rights, serving most recently as Chief of the Bay-Delta
Unit. In this position, he participated in the promulgation and implementation
of water quality objectives for the protection of the Sacramento-San
Joaquin Delta and the San Francisco Bay Estuary. |
